She started studying Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Turin, attending in parallel the bachelor’s degree in Pianoforte at the Conservatorio G. Verdi of the same city. Later, she shifted her focus to scientific communication, enrolling in the Master’s program in Communication of Science at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste. It was during this time that she became engaged with the study of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Media, which is now her primary area of interest. Her current research focuses on the intricate relationship between science, media, and society.

Project at IAS-STS: The representation of nuclear fusion on digital and traditional media

Potentially, nuclear fusion is a clean, safe, and endless source of energy. Although this technology is not yet available for exploitation, studying its social implications and public narrative is especially crucial today, given the growing interest in climate change and the recent achievements of some fusion experimental centers. However, only a few studies have investigated the media representation of fusion energy so far. To fill this gap, this research project aims to study the narratives, frames, and expectations surrounding fusion energy in both traditional and digital media. A comparative analysis will be conducted, comparing Italy and the United Kingdom, using a mixed-method approach. The analysis will begin with a quantitative method to filter and handle the large amount of data, followed by a qualitative approach. To better understand the research topic, the analysis will be placed within the broader framework of nuclear discourse and climate change communication.
