R-evolve: Roll out Systemic Change to evolve the Furniture Industry towards CE

The R-evolve project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme, aims to provide systematic and comprehensive support to accelerate the transition of the EU furniture industry towards Circular Economy (CE)-oriented Product-System Innovations. These innovations encompass CE-focused business models (CEBMs), circular product design, sustainable material strategies, and the implementation of Digital Product Passports (DPPs).

Nine pilot projects involving furniture manufacturers, a retailer, a service provider, and their value chain partners will test and implement selected Product-System Innovations. Based on the outcomes of these pilots, tailored implementation guidelines and training materials will be developed to help companies enhance the circularity of their products and business operations.

More than 400 companies will gain insights into their CE maturity levels and identify circular opportunities. Of these, 50 companies will receive expert coaching from consortium partners to implement the developed Product-System Innovations – including DPP systems, CEBMs, and circular design strategies – within their own operations.

R-evolve will also establish a Community of Practice (CoP) to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among all relevant stakeholders in the circular furniture value chain.
