Jürgen Suschek-Berger is chair person of the IFZ. He studied philosophy, sociology and media research at the University of Graz. 1988/89 he was study assistant at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Graz.
Since 1989 he is staff member at the IFZ and since 2004 head of the research unit “Energy and Climate”. He is lecturer at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt and deals in his lectures with the themes “Technology Assessment”, “Technology and Society” and “Diffusion of Technologies”.
He finished additional trainings in the fields of moderation and presentation, rhetoric and communication and he is NLP Master Practitioner.
In his work he deals with questions of social research in technology like: What are retarding and promoting conditions for the diffusion of renewable sources of energy? In which form users can be involved in the process of innovation or development or diffusion of technologies? For his work he uses quantitative and qualitative methods of empirical research like surveys, interviews or focus groups.
